Mg Full-band Tour Dates

Recommended Posts

Mhm. I researched it and they do have an Expedited service that takes 10 business days from the date that they receive it (which comes out to about 12 days in the end). That costs like 9149173491771$ though, so I won't be doing that. On that same note, I will be driving there, not flying. ;)

Thanks for the heads up on Passport-related stuff. I need to get one soon, but it will definitely be worth it to see MG for the first time!

just an fyi on the passport stuff.

i submitted for mine about a month ago, and it only took 2 and a half weeks without paying the extra fee. they claimed when i submitted it it'd take 3 months, but apparently they were just b.s.'ing.

if you're going over the border, definitely take a passport if you have it. if you don't, apply for a passport, and when you go over the border take the receipt for passport submission + a birth certificate + state id (drivers license), and you will be fine.

It took me two months to get mine last year, but that was because people were actually panicking about the passport issue. The panic may have lessed though.

To be safe, I'd get it out as soon as possible. Hint for Canadians: take your applications to your MP's office. Not only do they check it over for you to make sure you have everything, they'll mail it out for you free of charge. ;)

In fairness, you won't need a passport this go-around if you're driving - just a driver's license and a birth certificate. While the State Department article says Summer 2008, Congress forced Homeland Security to delay that requirement until June of 2009 at the earliest.

I didn't have a passport when I went up for the October shows. (I flew to Buffalo and rented a car.) I had no issues at all with just the license and birth certificate. (It was actually easier than I expected from the warnings I'd gotten beforehand, but I may have just been lucky.) Having said that, I may go ahead and get a passport for these shows. Any time in the next month and you wouldn't need to expedite it (the tour starts in 13 weeks).

If money is an issue and you don't think you'll need a passport for anything other than driving to Canada over the next few years, there's also a new "Passport Card" that only covers land travel. Probably better to just go ahead and get a real passport, but there's the cheaper option.

That's a pretty funny poster. Quite tricky. ;)

You seem to be quite knowledgeable on this subject, uglyredhonda! I'll still get the Passport to be safe; I might want to travel again in the future and it seems like it would relieve some of the hassles I may experience.

Did you also rent a hotel room when you went? I will be 19 when I see the show, but in the U.S. there are some restrictions on hotels. Are there any in Canada? I keep google-ing it in different ways and nothing seems to come up. Canadians feel free to answer, as well!

I question the wording of the promo picture. I wonder how many people are going to see this and say something like "OMG, Matthew Good Band???"

Though I would not be surprised if that was, for some reason, intentional...

there is a listing on ticketmaster.ca for matthew good band. made me laugh. I'm not sure if it's still there.

anyway, I got my tickets today!!! I love pre-sale!

Not sure. Strangely, I never had a problem with hotel rooms when I was in college - though we typically stayed in dives in college towns. I think the 21+ thing is with certain chains and certain areas - probably places that have minibars in their rooms. I'm assuming that hotels don't want the liability of someone underage diving through the minibar and having it charged to them. Canada's drinking age is 19, so maybe if they have restrictions, it'd be 19 instead of 21.

Probably the best move: scout around sites like hotels.com and tripadvisor.com (especially if you have a general idea where you'd like to stay) for hotels to stay in. Once you have a few to choose from, give them a call and see if there are any issues with age (etc).

if you drive in to Canada from the US, definitely recommend taking the rainbow bridge in Niagara falls instead of the fort Erie bridge in buffalo. much less nonsense. there are also plenty of places to stay on the american side without a falls view pretty cheap, and i'm sure there are cheaper if you get back out of the city a bit.
