Fearless........He needs a special tuner for that song, a specific discontinued Nashville Capo that only changes the key on certain strings. In all reality you could just change the gauge of the certain strings on the guitar but having such drastic tension between the strings would prove disatrous for your guitar. Seeing as how most of his guitars(the taylor and the guild, etc) are 2 grand plus it isn't worth it to go that route. I guess he could go with option C and get a beater guitar and do that but it would probably sound shitty anyways and Matthew is pretty anal about the quality of his shows. Hmm I figure another route would be to rework the guitar ala Pledge acoustic but I figure Matt wouldn't come to a compromised result he felt adequate to perform.

I just play that song using Damien Rice style barre chords. Thumb down on the E and leave the B and high E open. I think it sounds great.
