Full Band Setlist Megathread (merged)

he wore our shirt on stage???? holy shit, that's awesome.

He started out with a short-sleeve collared shirt over it for the first three songs. Before "Odette", he set down his guitar, took off the collared shirt and dropped it off-stage, then stepped up to the mic. (The way they're playing "Odette" this tour, Matt isn't playing guitar on it.)

If no pictures turn up, I've got about fifteen seconds of dodgy video I can throw online of an early piece from "Odette".

I can't believe the lack of bootlegs this tour. On the last one it seemed there was one popping up every second day around here. Oh well mayve someone will tape the Winnipeg show (god knows I have no idea how) and some of the shows out of west.

I completely agree...I asked for the Montreal show in another thread and when I went to check it, there was litterally dust on it (Anton, you should dust old threads more often).

I think a lot of people are leary of the term "bootleg" which deems an unauthorized recording being sold for a profit.

Most people prefer "recordings" or "tape" of the show.

I'm actually surprised as well. Checking out DaD and TTD nets nothing from the "Matthew Good and His Band" tour over the last few weeks.

I can say, for one, that Oshawa was recorded. There was somebody near me taping the show. Whether it surfaces or not is another question.

I might expect that the Mississauga Waterfront Festival show may be taped as well. They have a NO VIDEO policy when you check rules at the gates on the website, however, nothing mentions any type of camera (even DSLR which I might attempt to bring) or audio recording device. It's only $15 as well which is pretty damn cheap and he's slated from 9:30pm to 11:00pm. Only thing I don't like is the t-storms that are being called for on Friday (they weren't yesterday afternoon) and Saturday which might be a bit of a downer.

Taping isn't very hard and isn't very expensive these days nor is it hard to get gear in. For around $350 you can buy a solid-state recorder which is slightly bigger than the size of a deck of playing cards. For $40 more, you can buy an 8GB SDHC card which allows you to record almost 8 hours on that card at the highest sample rate. Mics and a battery box can be had from a guy in Canada for around $130 and they're decent for "starting out". The battery box is sightly bigger than a 9V battery and the mics just clip on. It's not the the "old days" where you had a full-size mic, two blank tapes, extra batteries and a recorder that was twice the size and weighed five-times as much. ;)

I'm just not sure what Matt's taping policy is; I'm sure he's fine as long as it's not being sold and being enjoyed by the fans. Anybody want to correct me?

Was the Toronto show ever done?

Well, here's the deal with this one. We all know that it was recorded for possible release via iTunes or the official site, so my guess is as follows:

YES - it probably has been recorded. I think this can be said of most shows by ANY artist at any time. It's almost a given nowadays. I'm thinking the taper has withheld the recording because it will be banned if an official release occurs (as per the policies of those websites).

MAYBE - it will surface if the official release fails to materialize.

NO - it isn't in any of the "usual" places as of yet. In fact ZERO shows have surfaced to date of the "band" shows.

So there's my $0.03 with inflation.

Can't speak for any other Western dates but Edmonton (June 21) will be recorded.

Holy crap. The peak of my taping days was with a $55 (new) Aiwa recorder with a supplied mic that made some pretty good tapes. I could justify sneaking it into shows on the grounds that if security confiscated it, it only cost me $55.

I don't tape with it anymore because I hate dealing with tapes. (I also reached a point that I realized I wasn't really listening to the tapes I made, with a couple of exceptions.) But I guess in hindsight I probably should have taken it - I had a perfect taping vantage point in Hamilton (right in front of the left stacks).

Speaking of which, here's the Hamilton setlist, just so this thread has it:

any idea as to why Matt's done two encores on some nights and only one on others? I hope he'll wear the "No Rico" shirt again. And that's great that some older songs like "Strange Days" have been popping up in the set. I'd still love to hear "Prime Time Deliverance", "Weapon", "Truffle Pigs" or "The Fine Art of Falling Apart" again.

very much looking forward to the Vancouver show.

Yeah, the setlist doesn't seem to be changing too much at all. It would be cool to see a new gem just pop its head out somewhere.

He wrote early on in the tour (or even before it started) not to expect too much variation, because it was two hard to teach a newly formed band all of his material. He just picked what he wanted and ran with it. Apparently they only had a week or so to rehearse before the tour. Being that they aren't a permanent unit (like Matthew Good Band was), he has to pay them all.

Not saying Matthew Good Band didn't get paid, but... eh, you know what I mean.

Nobody has put the London set list up yet so here she is:

Champions of Nothing

A Single Explosion

Odette

Born Losers

Devil's in Your Details

Load Me Up

Put Out Your Lights

Avalanche

Blue Skies Over Bad Lands

Black Helicopter

99% Of Us Is Failure

I'm A Window

Weapon

*encore*

Giant

Hello Time Bomb

Apparitions

Very reminiscent of the Toronto show. Seems like Matt is switching between two different set lists (main difference being the opening song). I thought the crowd was a little weak; there wasn't even the Giant chant (even with the track).

But as mentioned, they were definitely playing tighter throughout and songs like Black Helicopter and Weapon seemed a lot better than they did a couple weeks ago. Good show though. I probably won't be seeing him again for another year or so (whenever he decides to tour again, or if).

Any other thoughts on the London show? I saw someone taping it so I know it's out there. Oh and a downside was no Everything is Automatic.

As I recall, Matt doesn't mind but most of the time, people working for the venue don't allow it.

I've seen someone getting her camera confiscated. So basically, if you bring one, keep a low profile

hey,

what's the camera policy so far on the tour? The ticket says "no cameras/recorders" but is that applying to just the high level SLR cameras or including personal digital cameras too?

thanks.

This is often venue dependent - as well as artist dependent - regardless of what the ticket says. If the artist has a NO PHOTOGRAPHY clause in their rider, the venue must do its best to ensure no cameras are allowed in.

There's a big problem now that cell phones have built-in cameras, so what most venues are doing is allowing people to bring in any DIGITAL POCKET CAMERA (i.e., non-DSLR or Prosumer-type with a permanent fixed lens on the outside of the body).

At the Oshawa show, which was like Fort Knox going in, somebody asked if his Canon S1000 was allowed in and they said no problem as long as it wasn't professional.

I'm going to the Mississauga Waterfront Festival tonight, and even though the rules at the gate state "No Video Camera's [sic]," I was thinking of trying to bring my SLR.

However, with the T-showers being called for tonight, I'm just bringing my Fuji Pocket Camera with me instead. Not gonna be worth trying more than that.

Looking for the North Bay setlist, the show went what seemed to go without any problems. It was a basic list. Here's what I remember, the middle is very not right, too much fun

Giant

Weapon

A Single Explosion

Mental Airplains

99%

Put your lights out

Load Me Up

Black Copters

The Devil's in your details

Born Losers

Odette

Blue Skies over Bad Lands

I'm a Window

Apparitions

Encore was:

Hello Time Bomb

Everything is Automatic

Girl in the War

Can someone confirm this?

Thanks Matt and Band...great night.
