So I think I am willing to give the new AIC a try. I heard a few samples and it sounds pretty decent.

 

Also the idea of that sound, that AIC sound, returning is enchanting.

I was shocked at how much the new singer sounded like staley, it sounds like AIC overall which is good. I've skimmed a few songs, i'm not super into it but it's definitely solid.

 

dirt is a really good cd, but jar of flies is my favorite. although I like the unplugged one a lot. Liked the heavy/easy thing they had going with their releases back in the day.

the album is decent; considering all the factors involved, they've made a good AIC record. but never having been a fan of AIC, this record is not a great point to jump into their music.

also, i really wish duvall's voice had been showcased a bit more. i realize that AIC has always been about the great harmonies and vocal juxtapositions, but duvall has such great pipes, i really feel like they weren't really used to their full potential. sometimes thats the sign of a good singer, someone who has patience and who can show restraint, but that doesn't really sound like that's the case here.

i think they're trying to break him in slow. i think on the next round they'll let him loose. i think this record might sort of be jc's goodbye to layne - and since william never knew him, it makes sense that he'd keep quiet this time around. that's just what i think, though.

I heard Check my Brain on the radio and man the guitar in the song is soo bad.The guitar is really slow which isn't necessarily bad, but it sounds like someones using a hand-cranked drill on my skull, it's really annoying and it goes on for most of the song. I thought the vocals were not bad, but I'm not really a fan of that vocal style. If the guitar wasn't so bad I think it would be a decent track.

Had a sing off with my video game buddy last night at the bar. We both sang three AIC songs a piece. My Bleed The Freak sealed the deal. All of my Seltzers with a finger of Cranberry juice were free. Nothing like Karaoke in a biker bar.
