Media Club (Vancouver Secret Show)

Recommended Posts

Considering the intimacy of the venue and the relaxed feel that Matt provided (it felt like we were in his living room), a lot of people took cell-phone videos, and I'm sure they'll hit YouTube soon. If anyone knows the guy who had the afro at the front of the stage or how I can contact him it would be greatly appreciated. Unbelievable show last night. If anyone wants, I'd be happy to write a relatively in-depth review/summary of what I remember from last night. Still kind of stunned at the fact that I got to see him in such an intimate space.

Also, that setlist is missing at least one song that Matt jammed on. He spent a little bit of time shooting down requests by explaining why they don't sound good live and acoustic. "Weapon" was one, and it actually sounded pretty good acoustically when the crowd started clapping along.

Wow... that's an awesome setlist, makes me wish I just took a four day weekend from work and went over to Vancouver. If I had known about this and how awesome it was going to be more in advance I probably would have done that. I'm still hoping he does some acoustic shows in north of the border maybe in the fall, they probably wouldn't be quite like this one though.

The original setlist (I got it after the show) was as follows:

No Little Terror (I think Matt just jumped into it after screwing up Set Me On Fire)

Load Me Up in place of Zero Orchestra and Keep the Customer Satisfied

Omissions was final song

The impromptu Weapon jam was between How It Goes and Apparitions

These are the kind of lengthy setlists Matt used to play in the older days. He just seems to be able to have more stamina to play acoustic shows. Sorry to say guys.. but his shows in recent years are NOTHING compared to the shows of 1998-2004. The only exception perhaps was Live at Massey Hall in '07 because it was produced to be a live recording.

I dunno man, the acoustic show I saw in Buffalo in October '07 was pretty fucking intense and great and that wasn't being recorded. He was so on that night, and he played a really long set. Look it up on youtube.

Did anyone ever track down the guy who recorded this? It was an unreal show with some real gems, great banter and alot of fun. I echo that other posters sentiments that Weapon sounded awesome with the crowd singing. Also the crowd singing the end of Running For Home was a highlight for me too. Anyways does anyone know of more recordings of this?
