Chaotic Neutral 2015/2016 Tour Dates

Recommended Posts

Yep......I think $50-60 would be a happy medium, and fair for both fans and artist.

But to justify the $105 list price, he'd have to play 30-40 songs, and we know that ain't gonna happen, understandably. So that makes this borderline gouging, as far as I'm concerned.

Sorry to be critical at the end of such an amazing tour, but I felt I needed to address this.

Gillian said Gravenhurst is a pretty wealthy area

And I mean, clearly he can charge it cause Friday sold out almost right away.

Yeah, maybe somebody could explain why those tickets are so expensive. The last acoustic show I saw was $35, I think and the one before that was $15 at the door.

I just think that "because he can" is not a great answer. If the revenue from the rest of the tour justifies the price - for example, he needed to play these extra shows to get to the point of profitability he wanted than that's ok. Music always has its business side.

From the looks of it, all the tickets at that place are $100+, it's a small venue so I guess they need to make up for the costs.

To be honest with you, if the shows were in my area, I probably would have gone to both. I was just curious. I wonder how much the venue charged. The small bar show I saw was $15, so I wonder why this one was so much more expensive.

I think the price is pretty reasonable. $100 tickets for a 100 max venue will sell out alot quicker than $45 tickets selling out a 1500 seat venue. He's basically making around the same amount of money in the end (in pocket, since bigger shows he needs to pay dozens of people). Matthew Good is a large name, he's technically our Canadian Eddie Vedder in many ways.

For $100 though the show needs to be bordering around 2-3 hours which Matt never seemed to have a problem with since most quotes about the subject he's said "if I can make $100 a ticket then ill play for a long time".

Dying to see the setlists.

Tony,

It's a good assumption that at over $100 a ticket the majority of the people who attended the shows could be businessmen who aren't diehard fans. Perhaps they saw Matt was in town and went to the shows as it would give them something to do on a Friday or Saturday night. Having said that I am still shocked that not even a setlist has been posted on setlist.fm

I would imagine the majority would be leaning heaviest on the hardcore fan side since the first show sold out in less than a day & a second show got put up.

I bet Matt told the crowd not to mention anything over social media just to troll us lol.

I havent seen or heard anything about the 2 acoustic shows other than 3 videos on instagram.

What's taking so long? :(

And all three videos are from the same girl. I've been looking everywhere lol. I looked at different hashtags and everything.

Maybe because it was a more intimate setting people didn't want to have their phones out?

Nothing surprises me these days lol.  I would love to see if some of the newer songs were performed acoustically.  Besides Sons and Daughters of course.

Kid Down the Well would translate really well to acoustic I think. But he did Suburbia, my Suburbia...so jealous. Don't think I've gotten to see that since 2012. Still wish I could've gone. Especially since there's hardly anything posted anywhere about it. Amber was gonna go, but her car wasn't in any shape to get there after an accident. Otherwise we'd have an in to know...

Darn, I should have made an effort to go to those 2 acoustic shows; then, the trip out there would have been more worthwhile. I looked at a map last night, and it's only a few hours away from Hamilton. The bus route going to Gravenhurst looks a little complicated though.

Oh well. This trip was a quick and impulsive decision. No regrets.

Now that the tour is finished, I wonder what's next for shows/tours next year. I would love to see another acoustic tour, maybe record a show for a live album and/or DVD. I'm sure Matt is writing some new material, too, or will be at some point in 2016.

If anyone hadn't seen it - all of the shows at that venue are in the $100 range, including a bunch of relatively no-name acts.

Compared to some of those, MG seems like a bit of a bargain.

Not that it matters, but my ticket for MG's solo show at Massey Hall last year was $65.

I agree. It would be great if Matt recorded a show at Peter's Players in Gravenhurst, Ontario for a live album and/or DVD. This venue looks like a gem and a diamond in the rough. It has a capacity of 88 people and looks very intimate from looking at these youtube videos. If he goes out there again in the future, I may consider going just for the once in a lifetime experience. I'm a huge music lover, and it sounds like the owners of Peter's Players are as well.

I've been through Gravenhurst a few times on the way to a cottage up there.  It's definitely a rich area.  That's right in the heart of Muskoka cottage country.  Places up there go for over seven figures.  People in the area would pay that ticket price.  Plus, it's an intimate place, so you're paying for a pretty good experience.

I can't imagine going through some of the roads up there on a bus.  The roads are crazy up there, especially this time of year, if it wasn't 8 degrees here.  It's made me nervous driving up there, just in a car.

Coming out of the lurker lounge to say that this has been an absolutely fantastic tour experience for me.

Reading all the set lists, the funny app (which now says it needs an update but will not update), the tour challenges and the fantastic videos people have managed to get! You guys made it so fun and the build up to the Dec 5th show would not have been half so exciting without all the posting and speculation!

So thank you all and thanks Matt for such alarming musical brilliance that's kept me hooked all these years!

Guess Bonesy's went in the vault lol. https://www.facebook.com/Lark-Rise-Horse-House-332946836728518/

Hahaha if you go to Scott Helman's Instagram he posted a picture of Bones, Blake, Stu and George the lighting guy wearing the Scott Helman crop tops

Great picture.

Good times.

I like their Christmas postcards too. Funny stuff. It looks like they had fun on this tour.

There is a 30 second video clip of the band dancing to Scott Helman on this person's twitter account. She posted it on December 17th. The sound is not good though.

I don't know if I'm seeing things. If you look closely at the end, it looks like Stu also gave Scott big kiss on the forehead. Or maybe I'm wrong. Those funny guys.

I believe one of the shows was posted on youtube in its entirety (is that a word?)

Some very nice translations and he even played a few he hadn't played for a while (Omissions was played with a strumming/picking technique throughout which was pretty cool and interesting to watch as opposed to just the straight strumming he did last year).

If you go here you can see the full videos: https://www.youtube.com/user/schumif1champ/videos
