bands i love that no one seems to know:

The Decemberists - folkish organic pop

Dimmu Borgir - symphonic black metal

Leftover Crack - political ska punk blackmetal with a sense of humour. Download "Gay Rude Boys Unite" or "Born to Die" or "Operation M.O.V.E."

Patrick Wolfe - Bright Eyes without the whine. check out "Boy Like Me"

From First To Last - emo-metal without the whine on uppers. Check out "Note To Self" or "Emily"

He Is Legend - rock with a bit of scream and a weird perspective... Download "Either They Decorated for Christmas Early"

Atreyu - dark screamy death metal crossed with eighties glam. Download "Right Side of The Bed" or "The Rememberance Ballad."

!!! is another one. pronounced Chik Chik Chik, they're like groovy punk or something. Download "Dude, There are No Fucking Rules."

Patrick Wolfe - Bright Eyes without the whine. check out "Boy Like Me"

pretty sure theres no e. not being picky, just making the correction so that people get the right person. great artist though, i recommend his work as well.

here are some songs i've been listenning to this summer:

amusement parks on fire - "local boy makes good"

stupid name for a band, but cool song.

andrew bird - "lull"

laid back kind of tune.

blur - "to the end"

great band, great song.

foo fighters - "razor"

quite the turning point for the band. there isn't much to the song, but there doesn't need to be. something to be savorred.

giant drag - "blunt picket fence"

female artist with the mouth of a trucker, this song explores her "dreamy" tendencies, similar to that of the jesus and mary chain at times.

nick cave & the bad seeds - "hiding all away"

bluesy-rocker by the legendary band. huge sound.

spacemen 3 - "losing touch with my mind"

not much to say... i dig this song.

Can we at least set some ground rules for this thread? I do not need to listen to songs that my school band played for its spring concert.

Really, after months and months of rehearsals, you get bored of it and/or want to kill the next time you hear it.

Here are 2 off the top of my head.

M83 - They're a French band and kind of sound like Mogwai and Godspeed You Black Emperor. I saw them live in London and was blown away. Can't think of any songs in particular to listen to, though

r. star - He's local to NYC right now but he's definitely worth checking out. Piano and acoustic guitar and an amazing voice. Also does a cover of 50 Cent's "Candy Shop" just for kicks. I think you can stream a few tracks on his website (www.rstar.net)
