real zeppelin/floyd/metallica/ramones fans have faded shirts from the 80's. posers bought theirs last week from hot topic (or similar clone stores)

that makes absoultely no sense at all. so if i want a led zeppelin shirt, i'm a poser unless i find a "vintage" one? i'm still a fan.... a poser though? just because my shirt would be new? nuts, i should've got my mom to buy me one while i was in the womb, so i could show how much of a real fan i am.

fuck that. these are all things that no one should care about. i've never understood why it's important to separate "real" fans from the "fake" ones. just listen to the music and enjoy it. who cares what anyone else does or says.

no, but a grade 10 classroom full of kids wearing the same 2 or 3 metallica or ramones shirts that they bought at bootlegger are posers

or maybe they like the music. that's a crazy thought, eh? kids liking music and wearing band shirts? wow.

who the fuck still goes around calling people posers anyway?

by the way, 'satty', isn't that a NEW alice in chains shirt you have? does that make you a poser by your own rules?

and furthermore, if someone had a tshirt from the 80s that was worn enough to be faded, i seriously doubt it would still be in wearable condition today, 20+ years later.

o m g. it's not the fans i'm worried about, it's the kids who buy it because they think it's cool to buy it. it's the girls who wear 15 different trends at the same time so they'll fit in with at least one clique at any given time. it's the kids who listen to only songs they hear on the radio and say that they love the band.

but anyways, this is about indie music or something.

Real fans would be much more likely to go to a merch site, or a store dealing in bands shirts.

you can tell the fake kids becuase it's always the same. Real pink floyd fans will have all kinds of imagery, but the douches will only ever have a plain black tee with the Dark Side of the Moon cover on it. Ramones is always the red bold font with "Hey ho, let's go".

the fact that you pay attention to this scares me.

where i buy my merchandise affects how big of a fan i am??? darn, i guess i really don't like half the bands i thought i did. i was only pretending to like them because lord knows that my clothes speak more volumes than my record collection.

again, why is this important? stop letting your clothes speak for you, and stop assuming people's clothes ultimately speak for them. who cares where i get my shirt from? fuck fashion. i think its more important to know where your clothes are made and whether or not the person who made them can afford to put food on the table for their family. "real" fans don't buy shitty merch made in honduras.

you're still missing the point. you're not a 15-year-old girl who buys a ramones shirt because it's on display in her favourite trend store and is therefore trendy to wear.
