i went with my two friends to Friday's show. we've been waiting for something like this for years. After seeing at least 20 shows, this one was special. As soon as he started playing, it was surreal. From someone who was very sick, he sounded amazing.

 

I yelled out for "So Long Mrs. Smith" and it was a real treat hearing that. It was great hearing the rare stuff like "Fated" and "The Fine Art of Falling Apart" live. Surprise, surprise, someone yelled out for "Rico". It was crazy having that disco ball. During "Avalanche", it was if you were getting hypnotized.

 

Funny how there were two guys that thought they were having one-on-one conversations with Matt (i.e. "you cancelled Victoria", "Where'd you find Melissa?" and the whole 2nd Amendment thing), not helpful as the rest of us just wanted to hear Matt play. The stories were hilarious like his tour stories of driving in a converted ambulance and the time Ian yelled for the van to pull over in the middle of the night and he ran off and disappeared for a half an hour. It was very cool how he just was like "fuck it" when he wasn't sure he could pull it off and played "Fell in Love with a Bad Idea" because someone requested it.

 

Previous people were right, it was so quiet (apart from hearing cameras and people like me singing along).

 

and yes, it was really nice of Matt to stick around for a chat and pictures. He did look exhausted so I hope he gets the rest he deserves. I never noticed any signs that mentioned the show was being recorded.The venue was pretty cool, with a lil' theatre vibe. I'm sure he could of easily played at VECC for a week.

Who was that guy who gave out the NF address in the front row? You were writing down setlists through the entire show lol.

There was a guy doing that (setlist) in the front row centre at tht Toronto show and Matt made a few cracks:

 

"Are you really writing down the setlist after each song? You don't need to do that, it's right here. Look. You can see the whole list! Take a picture..."

ya, that was me, lol. I wrote down the list because we couldnt see it from where we were sitting and because i thought i might come on right after the show and post it...but it was late and I was bagged so I just went to sleep (woke up early for the sun run today). Ya, I got to the show pretty early...just after 5 i think, but there were a couple other people already there. It took me a while to find the place, its in a weird spot (but got awesome parking).

Ya, standing around for over 2 hours really took it's tole on my back. Sat on the floor during the concert cause it was more comfortable. (and way better pics, which I'll post soon)

Ah, gotcha. Just cos he was talking about sex tapes when the guy yelled Bad Idea, so I just assumed.

 

And don't forget the Rico guy, who kept yelling for him to play Rico. Even after Matt flat out said no.

i ran into matt, jen, rod and his girlfriend at a japanese restuarant a few months ago and somehow we started talking about surrey. he said "what happens in surrey should fucking stay in surrey" we all laughed then he said "if you LIVE in surrey you should fucking stay in surrey" we laughed again, then he said "skytrain, you build it and they will come.... i cant wait til richmond gets here"

 

 

that saki was a beautiful thing that night.

hmmm Matt must be a Surrey fan because he talked about that city for a while during the 22nd show. Pretty damn funny.

 

The Poco song went like "Poco girls, they like to get...laid" and he kept going on about the regular Poco girls being sluts, also pretty damn funny.

the difference is coquitlam girls think they're from west van... and usually have the bodies to go along with the skimpy clothes. as opposed to poco girls who think they are from east van and have bodies that would be better off wrapped in oversized sweat suits.

 

 

 

 

i went to highschool in coquitlam.

Here's the thing...

I was raised in East Van.

West Van makes me sick.

I've moved further into suburbia as time goes on.

So whatever box that mushes me into.. Well...

Lets just say there are barely any skimpy clothes.
