here's the scoop:

i like unique things. which is why i have an m coupe in my garage. i'm going to buy an SUV before spring, and it will not be some $30,000 mass produced parts-sharing piece of crap. it looks cheap, it rattles after 6 months and a stock chev is a STOCK chev.

for humor's sake, if i WERE to take the plunge and buy a domestic SUV from gm it would be the trailblazer. theres more than one engine to choose from, its a rwd and its got excellent styling. but why stop there? why not pay $5g LESS than the top model (but still base) trailblazer and get a unique vehicle with full-time AWD, xenon headlights, 18" rims, onstar and not have to worry about any add-ons. the only option is wether you want GPS or not. last time i checked, cars that COME fully loaded have a way higher resale value than the ones that come with cloth, 16" alloys, fm radio and no floormats.

not to be rude, and only for the sake of argument... i suggest you go into your closet, put your nicest outfit on, take a trip down to your local automall and actually demo some of these vehicles you speak so highly of before you make suggestions to a guy who spends the better part of the week, in and out, demoing cars.

i know lots about cars. and this truck has impressed me. and usualy i hate these littles SUV's, im not gonna say i know more than you, or as much, but i know a hell of a lot, and im not one of those peopel that just see somethign cheap, and dont care about anything else and buy it.

also i thought i would toss out the name equniox because i wasnt sure how much you are looking to spend, but sorry not everyone has an m coupe, or the money to buy one, and then a new SUV. and people who can, most are in wicked debt.

and trailbalzers arent cheap either. but they are worth it. but i wouldnt buy one, if i were to buy an suv it would definately be an Acura MDX. or a Honda Pilot. both are really good vehicles.

if i mentioned that i was demoing a saab, then its apparent i was looking to spend upwards of $50,000. i appreciate your knowledge and passion for cars, and im definetly not trying to start a fight or belittle your advice.

debt, on the other hand, is a whole other story. i'm in the financial sector, so take my word for it when i say that just because you owe money doesnt mean you are in debt. its called liquid assets and positive net-worth. i could buy the m coupe and the saab with cash but why would i when i can finance it at a super low apr and keep my cash liquid?

when you have excellent credit, a huge portfolio, and tons of equity in a home worth almost a million dollars, paying cash is stupid because you make more money having it sit in the bank than you pay out in interest on your car loan. in essence, i save money by financing it.

for example... you will always notice that high-end car manufacturers offer 1.9% apr on all their newest models, and they do this because they want all the wealthy people owning their car, and it makes sense because its a money saver. finance companies only make money off people with bad/new credit or people with no liquid assets or a negative net-worth.

Passion for cars? Come on, guys, SUVs aren't "cars". You drive them either for the utility (rare) or for the status of owning an SUV. Sports cars are status symbols, but at least they have the intrinsic value of being fun to drive.

top five places to get wasted on a Saturday:

-outside the liquor store

-various cheap neighbourhood pubs

-crashing at your neighbours shit apartment but hes not home for the weekend so he wont ever find out anyways, unless you leave a mess but you could always blame it on someone else anyways

-on the Greyhound bus

-anywhere in Reykjavik

That was more to Ryan than you. I'm a car enthusiast but I know jack shit about SUV's because, well, what's there to be enthused about them? SUV's are for people who refuse to surrender to the title of soccer mom/dad by buying a minivan.

wait until you get a opportunity to test drive a grand cherokee srt8.

you (the general 'you' not you specifically) could get the kids to soccer practice in record time in one of those.

i got to drive alot of different shit at my last job (rental car place..so no srt8s). my favorite suv for luxury was the aviator. the navigator was just too monstrous and the aviator had all the same goodies, anyway. for sheer fun value (in the snow and such) the 4runner was good for shits and giggles.

i found that the aviator was just an explorer with a different front grill.

love the 4runner and nissan armada, though.

the navigator is the same deal, just an expedition with different trim, grill, etc. i also really dug the gmc envoy for comfort. never drove any armada's, though they are aptly named...fucking ginormous.

You seem smart.

Do you want to make money for me?

I'm flat broke.

I owe $12,000 in student loans.

I have $3000 in the bank...

Reasons why you want to help me:

1. You're a nice guy

2. You like me

3. I'm so pathetic you want to help me

4. You like it when people like me make money

5. Did I say that I'm pathetic and I'm nice?

the last time i was in a navigator, i think the navigator was considerably different than the expedition. console shifter instead of column, windows and doors had a way better quality to them, power closing rear hatch, xenon lights, auto leveling, etc.

i dont know the full details of your life (assets, employment, income/outgoing, etc). is the $3000 in your bank YOURS or is it part of the $12,000 that you haven't spent yet? usually what i'd do for someone with a negative net worth is set up a plan (usually 12, 18 or 24 months) to get back in black and once you've fulfilled that plan, then we start MAKING money for you.

i dunno. i'm no expert on cars. maybe they just share the same frame. maybe not even that. if you're looking for upscale, and you like the 4runner, have you looked at infiniti? they must have something comparable.

What about Lexus? The RX is a great SUV, and if you're concerned about gas mileage, you could check the hybrid version. It gets like 32 miles/gallon. I don't know how to convert that to km/liter, sorry.
