anyone like 'em? emily haines is now officially my favorite female lead singer, and the only one represented in my music collection. sexy voice and smart lyrics. yay!

I only like a few of their songs... Really, Dead Disco and Combat Baby. The rest of their stuff isn't much like those songs and I find it uninteresting.

I love Metric! I think the first CD is a lot more creative than the second one, but both are fantastic.

 

I'm excited to hear Emily's solo stuff. I'm not sure when it comes out, though...

i didn't know there was an IOU. old world underground and live out loud. iou was a song on old world underground. i don't know really anything about them other than emily is the hotness and the guitar player has a sweet jazzmaster.

Emily's work with Broken Social Scene is better. But Metric is an average band on the whole.

The chick on the cover is so airbrushed. She looks human on on the discography, but in concert she looks like an evil looking, malnurished crack attick.

metric is my roommate's favourite band. i never heard them until i moved in with him. they've grown on me in the past few months. we caught them in toronto at dog day afternoon... they were pretty good live, but it would've been a more enjoyable experience had the crowd been a bit more tame.

 

after a first listen i can understand how one might think they suck... but they've definitely grown on me.

huh...i didn't realize there were so many metric threads 'till i went digging for my own (oops..shoulda searched the first time ;) ). anyway, instead of starting a new thread i'll just update the statement i started this one with. i now also like the yeah yeah yeahs after seeing a video the other night for maps (gold lion also sounds familiar after giving it a listen)...so that's two female lead singers in the collection. gynomite!
