okay, so here's there the deal. I'm guessing a lot of us would agree that most bands in the top 40 blow.

but every once in a while, the top 40 kids actually luck out and get a quality band with merit

so i ask you this, what is the best band you can find among the popular groups?

for me? being that i posted this topic, i have to go with The Killers.

there newest album is on constant repeat in my stereo. i am very very impressed by their talent.

okay...post your thoughts/opinions/criticisms

i don't listen to the radio either, so what do the kids like these days?

Kids are listening to crap like...Panic at the Disco, Fall out Boy, Simple Plan, and HEDLEY. We should ;) all of them!!!! I hate this poppy, I have no talent, we all sound the same crap-O-la!

Umm I like RHCP and they are always on the radio(but they r also old schoolish) so I would have to say Alexisonfie or City & Colour, and Billy Talent are all in the "top 4o" that is if you are referring to songs..and I like them all.

hells yes Sam Roberts

sorry, i've been subjected to American Content too much/too long.

i wish i had Muchmusic...and i mean the Muchmusic Then, not Muchmusic Now, cause last time i was back home (the pas, manitoba) Much had become very MTV...television programs all day, no music. *weep*

i'm talking Muchmusic, 11th grade-era...music videos all day, quality vj's, concert movies on Saturday night.

this i miss

RHCP are totally a radio band. They get tons of radioplay here.

Sam Roberts is awesome; Matt Mays if even more awesome (I can't wait to see him live again, I hope he comes back to Halifax soon).

Coldplay are okay. They've got some really strong songs but also lots of filler, in my opinion. I honestly don't get a lot of the hype for this band. My friend works with this guy that repeatedly refers to them as "this generations' The Beatles". I'm not a HUGE Beatles fan by any means but I'd still call this quite the stretch.

I don't agree, I think it's only a matter of time before someone comes along and has that level of impact. It has always been that way.

Technology has changed that, plus there are too many genres now within mainstream music, everyone likes different things. No 'One' band can have as huge an impact as the beatles did nowadays.

Yeah, I've been checking the tour dates. They're touring quite a bit right now just unfortuntately not visiting Halifax any time soon. That New Year's show will be really good though.

Yeah, I have no idea what it's like anywhere else but the radio here is playing RHCP's "Tell Me Baby" all the time. They play a lot of the singles from Californication too. And Under The Bridge, but that's a given.
