Hi Gooders,

 

I have been pretty much out of the MG loop since the relase of COMA, and would really appreciate a very brief summary of what Matt's been up to since then.

 

I'm reading whispers of a new album - when & what kinda stuff?

Also hearing whispers of Matt not playing live anymore or something to that effect. Tell me it ain't so!!

 

Matt's been sick?

 

I've been perusing the board a little but haven't found anything concrete yet.

From what I know, MG isn't giving up touring/live shows. New album? Yes? Double album? Maybe.

let's see... toured IAC with band, toured IAC acoustic, played a show for some fans in vancouver in his living room because he was leaving vancouver because he was going through a divorce and wanted to travel. got called back on a family emergency. started writing a lot of songs and is thinking about releasing them as a double album. made some interesting drawings that can be seen in the "gallery" section of matthewgood.org, listens to a lot of tom waits, loves his dogs.

Ok, cool thanks. I'd read that he said 2006 was the worst year of his life, using the terms like "after what's happened to me" etc.

I later read that'd he'd divorced Jennie (?) - so was that the only crappy thing (apart from his site getting hacked)?

He was also hospitalized for 3 days because of a bad mix of medicine for his anxiety...that was a slap in the face for him and we later found that he had drawn an image called "The Holy Trinity" which represented the fact that Jennifer was pregnant at their wedding and got an abortion and he always regretted that...he said (paraphrased) "no matter what I'd have a 3 years old kid who would be more important to me than anything else" and that is also why they had dogs...to replace kids

Yeah I agree, divorce is a pretty big "only". I didn't know about his wife being pregnant though. That really sucks. Having a son that is pretty much as old as Matt's kid would have been, I know now what an absolute miracle having a child is & I couldn't imagine life without him now. I'm sure he does reget that.

 

Well all I can say is that I am soooo glad he's still creating music & I am salivating at the thought of a new, potentially, double album.

I hope 2007 is a kick-ass year for him.

Yeah the man deserves a break...7 years of anxiety in a band he didn't like, then 2 years with a woman who turned out to be nothing he thought she was, then a year with all of this...I hope life will give him that break

He'll get a break, he's bound to get one, and at the prospect of getting a double album (or perhaps another 5 or 6 song EP if it's a single album) sometime in 2007...I'm looking forward to 2007 already.

 

Now If I'd have just saved those plans for that stupid time machine...err...man I have to lay off of the sauce...

I'm actually happy that he went through some rough times...his new music is going to be some of the best stuff ever. Artists always write the best stuff when they're pissed off. can't wait for the new album ;)
