Shade posted the Waterbourne Soundtrack by these guys a while back... this album is completely different and I really enjoyed listening to it - I haven't heard stuff like this in a while. Pretty fun rock and roll in my opinion. The lyrics can be a bit cheesy at times but the vocals make up for it.

horrible album.

get leitmotif instead

Ya I wanted that one because everyone was saying it was better but I couldn't find it anywhere. You have it?

Also I'm curious as to what makes you say this one is horrible.

I also love it when people compliment me on my band shirts. When they know who the band is...

Couple of thoughts for this thread.

Leitmotif >>>> Catch Without Arms HOWEVER over the years, I've come to enjoy El Cielo the most which is very shocking.

New Tomahawk is a disappointment. They were the closest thing Mike Patton had going that was more in the modern rock direction and now it just feels like a Fantomas record with Aboriginal influences.

The new tomahawk album is kind of a cover deal. Every song is based on a native american one...and the last song is a lounge one from the time period.

I can understand people not liking it.

i don't really hear the fantomas connect, aside from the fact that they're going for the whole "spooky" thing. fantomas have always been more about soundtracks... ambient soundscapes... whereas tomahawk work with structure a little more. well, its more like they play with structure, not work with it.

There's a Fantomas connection in the new Tomahawk in that a number of the tracks are more instrumental based with less straight-forward vocals. I think this album could've been done better, but it's still pretty interesting and enjoyable.

It's sort of upsetting, however, because Tomahawk is my favorite of Patton's bands because it was more song-based, while still being a bit avant garde and strange.

Sorry to break up all the brilliant Tomahawk discussions (sarcasm) but

The new Iron & Wine leaked. This shiz wasn't due out until September... but it's really good. Check it out.

No album art yet that I know of so
